« Carol de Montrichard and her Franco-American family offer bed and breakfast accommodations in a charming, rambling stone house on the out-skirts of St Quentin de Baron, a small village in Entre-Deux-Mers. It is a good base to explore the entire Bordeaux region. » The Wine Spectator
“St Emilion is one of those places that has to be visited before you die, and La Forge is the place to stay when preparing for heaven! Not only does the house and rooms tick all of the boxes regards photogenic, rustic charm, character, charisma, atmosphere and sheer wonderment, but also Carol has to be one of the most interesting people my wife and I have met. We could have talked with her for hours (and plan to do so next year!!).”
“Most of all we enjoyed the warm of Carol who guided us on great places to visit, from wine degustations, restaurants, farm day experiences, local markets and gardens. Carol’s generosity allowed us to glimpse a little of French life and we look forward to returning to do a cooking and garden week with her in the future.”
“I stayed at La Forge for one night and wished that I had time to stay many more. It is a beautiful home with a fantastic host, The house is filled with beautiful art, and It was a peaceful and relaxing spot. If you are visiting Bordeaux by car, it is worth a trip!”
“A wonderful place to relax and do nothing – or to take advantage of the owner’s knowledge and connections with local cuisine, wine and culture. Carol will help you arrange your itinerary – and serve you a beautiful breakfast!”
“A perfect spot, perfect host and perfect getaway!”
“…provided opportunities we never would have discovered on our own, including private wine tastings, local country markets, restaurants, tours, special places in Bordeaux and Saint Emilion…Wonderful breakfasts and lots of attention from the host.”
“The rooms are quaint and beautifully furnished with fine linens and antique furnishings and the common rooms downstairs and cosy and inviting. You never feel uncomfortable or awkward making use of them, as I’ve experienced in other B&B’s. There is also a large garden with lots of spaces to relax and view the beautiful countryside. The breakfasts are delicious, with homemade cakes and jams along with fruit, tasty croissants, cheese, bread and a nice cup of coffee! Carol is one of those people who you feel instantly comfortable with and the kind of person you want to be friends with forever! You won’t be disappointed.”
“The rooms were charming and comfortable – everything you hope for when you stay in the French countryside. There were books to read, games to play, plenty of nooks to sneak away to and think about your day. Our host, Carol de Montrichard, did an amazing job of giving us the perfect taste of French country living.”
“We’d return to La Forge in a heartbeat. The best thing about it was the hostess — Carol has lived in France since the 60s and knows the language and culture like a native. Her advice as to what to see, where to dine, etc., was always spot on. Staying at La Ferme felt like visiting a French family, without any language issues.”
“Perfect place for the family”
